All children from Y3 upwards learn French as part of the curriculum using the Tout le Monde programme. We have a Language Assistant who supports our KS2 classes with French each week. The children benefit from having a 'real' french person in learning about the language and the culture. We have links to a school in France where the children have French pen-friends. In past years we been delighted to welcome a group of 50 pupils from Joue sur Erdre to spend time with us. This gave the children the valuable experience of practising their French conversation over lunch and through activities such as parachute games, orienteering and a village walk.
Tenterden Rural Alliance
As part of our collaboration children have the opportunity to take part in additional activities to promote the development of language skills. These include a French ‘pique-nique’ for Year 4 children and a German Christmas market for Year 5 children.
